Auroras are named "aurora borealis" (northern lights) in the northern hemisphere and "aurora australis" (southern lights) in the southern hemisphere. The Italian scientist Galileo was the first to name these captivating lights Aurora. Polar lights, or auroras, are natural illuminations observed in the sky in the polar regions, resulting from the interaction between the Earth's magnetic field and charged particles from the Sun.

Understanding AWS Aurora

AWS Aurora is a cloud-based relational database solution that provides users with high performance, availability, and scalability. Aurora is a high-performance and scalable database service. It provides high performance through a specially designed architecture. Aurora ensures high availability by replicating data across three different availability zones in six different AWS regions. Its instant backup and restore features prevent data loss.

RDS provides standard replication and backup features. However, it may not offer as wide a geographical distribution as Aurora.

Aurora maintains compatibility with MySQL and PostgreSQL, allowing existing applications to be easily migrated to Aurora. RDS, on the other hand, provides support for various database engines, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and others.

Both services are managed services, which reduces infrastructure management and operational requirements. However, Aurora may provide more automatic scalability and ease of management.

Finally, RDS is generally more cost-effective than Aurora. However, prices may vary depending on the selected database engine and requirements.
